  • Overview

    The Project Manager / Estimator's responsibility includes estimating and managing construction projects. Responsibilities include client interface and ensuring client satisfaction; developing detailed means and methods estimates; outsourcing, analyzing and competitively purchasing subcontractor services and material purchases; reviewing proposed designs for constructibility, value-engineering, contract negotiations; creating, updating and enforcing project schedules; problem solving; coordinating project meetings; keeping project records and documents; managing project cost; managing change orders, acquiring building permits, managing submittal's and other necessary project documents and physically inspecting projects to monitor progress and compliance with project standards.

    To be successful in this position the candidate should have knowledge and experience estimating and managing Industrial Civil Projects. Useful experience and knowledge includes the following:

    • Heavy concrete and form work.
    • Industrial buildings.
    • Warehouses
    • Site clearing.
    • Steel erection.
    • Structural Foundations.
    • Tanks Rings.
    • Surveying.
    • Fire water systems.
    • Drainage.
    • Duct Banks
    • Utilities, etc.


    • Meet with Client / Customer on a regular basis to discuss status of projects, determine client satisfaction and take immediate action to respond to problems and concerns.
    • Visit project work sites, clarify scope of work, and prepare cost estimates and proposals.
    • Evaluate projects for constructibility and value-engineer cost savings.
    • Develop and implement strategies to self-perform and to outsource the various aspects of a project to achieve the projects objectives of price, schedule and quality.
    • Negotiate contracts, subcontracts and purchase orders to assure that all project goals are being addressed.
    • Identify issues that could lead to problems and facilitate their solutions.
    • Conduct and document project progress meetings.
    • Determine and implement the appropriate level of project control (i.e.: submittal logs, change order logs, etc.)
    • Manage project costs to assure that budgets are maintained.
    • Document and manage changes in the work.
    • Document substantial completion; manage the project closeout process to assure timely completion
    • Participate in weekly staff meetings.
    • Duties may include assistance to Project Superintendent.


    1. Construction Management/Engineering degree and/or at least 7 years of field experience.
    2. Accounting / Math Knowledge.
    3. Experience estimating and managing self performed work activities and subcontracted work.
    4. Proficient with computer software used in the construction industry.
    5. Understands project cost control and change order management
    6. Understands software applications associated with managing and controlling work-flow.
    7. Must hold a TWIC card.
    8. Must have OSHA Card.
    9. Must pass Drug and Alcohol screen.
    10. Must undergo audiogram.
